The Trailsman #352: Texas Tangle ReviewBadlands, Texas, 1861
Comanche Territory
Pecos River country
Fort Lancaster-Live Oak CreekTo add historical fact to this book, Fort Lancaster does yet exist, spanning 82 acres in the Pecos River valley, one of 4 posts that protected the military route from San Antonio to El Paso from 1885 onward. Eventually housing 150 men and 3 officers. One of the fun things involved in reading these 'Jon Sharpe' novels is that of learning something of the American west. Another fact is that the author also knows something of the American west.
In this novel Skye Fargo is minding his own business as usual when he inadvertently comes upon a group of wagons with everyone dead and dying. The last survivor informs Skye that 4 women have been kidnapped. Was it the Comanches? Or was it someone else? The remainder of the novel is taken up with the search for the stolen women, leading our hero into one scrape after another from which he will be fortunate to escape.
Another interesting novel continuing the saga of The Trailsman. All of these Jon Sharpe books offer tales of the west with both fact and fiction.
Recommeded.
