The Trailsman (Giant): Desert Duel ReviewWhen a Chinese gentleman offers Skye Fargo a thousand dollars to find his missing daughter, the Trailsman starts a search that quickly turns into something much more. Other Chinese have been disappearing too. Fargo's search leads him to the wastelands of Death Valley and an oasis fed by a secret water source all ruled by the monstrous Tobias Cain. Now Fargo is going to take down Cain and his entire vile operation - and turn the desert paradise into bloody perdition.
This book provided a riveting read as Skye Fargo finds himself facing impossible odds. I particularly liked the opening sequence when Fargo was setting himself up as a man not to be messed with.
There's also some thought provoking views on how the Chinese are treated by most whites.
Sharpe once more presents the reader with some memorable characters, such as Kid Fontaine, Li Dazhong, Cain, Krast and May Ling - her actions perhaps the most telling as to how greed can change a person.
The action comes fast and furious, the scene with the snake unforgettable, and should satisfy all western fans who want a fast moving read. Sharpe's cliff-hanger method of writing making this book almost impossible to put down before the explosive finale.
Another excellent entry into the Trailsman series.
